What is the opportunity within UKFast’s Windows Support team?

As part of a highly skilled and collaborative team, you will gain exposure to a huge variety of technologies and customers, including some of the most exciting businesses on the Internet. With your intuitive troubleshooting and monitoring skills, you’ll take ownership of customer issues from first to third line escalation points, right through to resolution.

Our UKFast Education Centre will provide all the resources you need to attain the professional certifications of your choice. We also operate a “Hot-Desk” policy, which means you will spend a certain number of days shadowing and being mentored by our senior engineers. What will my responsibilities be?

  • Delivering unparalleled customer service and advice to our customers via calls, emails, and ticketing systems.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and development of our customer solutions, including consulting them on how we can best improve their technical environments.
  • Helping with the setup, configuration, and support of our servers.
  • Innovating and aiding in the development of new and improved products.
  • Developing your expertise in the vast suite of technologies we work with.
  • Last but not least, having fun alongside some of the best engineers in the industry!

 

What skills are we looking for?

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting most of the following specifics:
    • Active Directory
    • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms, esp. Hyper-V and vSphere products
    • IIS, inc. as part of a mixed Windows/Linux web stack
    • Exchange and Exchange Online/Office 365
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • SAN storage and architecture experience – EMC/EqualLogic/Netapp/3PAR/HP and/or Dell server hardware
    • Familiarity with PowerShell, the .NET family of languages, and basic coding concepts.
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer service to customers or excellent communication skills.
  • An appetite to learn and develop yourself professionally.

 

Nice-to-have skills and experience:

  • Qualification/certification to Microsoft Associate level (Server/Azure Admin).
  • Experience in Windows products as components in a highly available hosting environment.
  • Familiarity with load-balancing and web security techniques.

 

Note: This role will require the flexibility to work in shift patterns, with occasional weekend work.
