What is the opportunity within UKFast’s Senior Linux team?

2020 was a hugely transformational year for our business with a large investment from the leading mid-market private equity firm Inflexion. Our hard work, dedication, and grit during such a turbulent year have propelled us into 2021 with a highly confident outlook for a successful year ahead. This has led us to the search for a Senior Linux Engineer to join us on our unique journey.

Reporting to our Linux Technical Lead, your primary role will be supporting UKFast’s largest customers – some of the most exciting businesses found on the Internet. You’ll do this through intuitive troubleshooting, monitoring, and enhancing the customer’s existing solutions, as well as, working with our SA team to construct novel and innovative solutions to proactively support our customers’ future.

What will my responsibilities be?

  • Delivering unparalleled customer service and advice to our largest clients, operating across a vast range of industries.
  • Architecting and building innovative solutions and products.
  • Contributing to the setup, configuration, and support of our servers.
  • Helping us on our journey to becoming a market leader in hybrid cloud solutions.

What should I bring?

  • A proven track record of building, installing and supporting Linux servers, ideally Red Hat/Debian based distributions.
  • Significant experience of Linux systems in a networking environment.
  • Motivation to provide impeccable customer service whilst working in a lean, collaborative, and fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, passionate, and can-do attitude with a strong interest to learn and develop yourself professionally.
  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting Apache/NGiNX, MySQL/PostgreSQL, FTP, and Mail Servers.
  • Exposure to diagnosing various server issues using standard open-source tools.
  • Exposure to command-line scripting.
  • Experience using Linux control panels, such as cPanel or Plesk.
  • Exposure to programming languages such as PHP, Perl, Python, HTML, and SQL.
  • Qualification/certification to RHCT/RHCSA/LPIC-1 is desirable.
  • Experience in Linux Systems Administration in a hosting environment is desirable.
