The opportunity…

UKFast is currently looking for a Presales Engineer to join our growing Customer Architecture team.

Reporting to our VP of Architecture, you will operate as a vital technical resource in effectively demonstrating UKFast’s products and services suite to customers as well as high-level solutions design and defining technical requirements.

This is the perfect opportunity for a tech-enthusiast to broaden their knowledge across a great variety of sophisticated products and modern technologies in the tech services space.  

The role comes with incredible scope for growth. Naturally, the next career milestone would be to transition into a Solution Architect position. However, an opportunity to progress into a full-time project engineering role or even down the team leadership route is equally achievable in such a fast-growing team.

What you will do

  • Attending customers calls and meetings and operating as a primary technical resource. 
  • Making technical recommendations to customers about the layout and design of solutions based on sound technical knowledge and reasoning from a variety of sources
  • Offering technical advice to customers based on UKFast products and services requirements, guidelines and documentation. 
  • Creation of relevant documentation for use by the customer. 
  • Creation of documentation for use by Launch, Support, and Infrastructure in preparation for a customer to move from a sales phase and into support via the launch/build phase. 
  • Operate as the primary source of technical knowledge about UKFast products and services within the commercial teams.
  • Offer customer and commercial support for UKFast Products where appropriate. 
  • Remain abreast of improvements and developments across all of UKFast’s Products and Services. 

 

What you will bring

  • Experience working in a customer-facing role, such as, technical support, infrastructure or ideally a presales role, working in conjunction with a Commercial team. 
  • Experience in working with a wide variety of technical products and services
  • The ability to understand a customer’s needs through discussion and tools, then transpose these into a solution design. 
  • The ability to succinctly convey technical solutions and theories to a customer and offer details of the advantages and disadvantages in contrast to other options.
  • Appreciation for infrastructure management technologies, such as virtualisation products, storage technologies, virtual desktop platforms. 
  • Experience with a wide variety of applications such as SQL Server, IIS, Apache, NGiNX, MySQL, MariaDB, and HAProxy.  
  • A basic understanding of Networks and the OSI framework. 

Nice-to-haves:

  • Hands-on infrastructure experience, working with Hypervisors, SANs, networking equipment, monitoring services, and licensing.
  • Experience administering Windows and/or Linux platforms or services. 
  • Azure/AWS/GCP experience.
