The opportunity

UKFast is looking for a Junior Backups Engineer to help us provide world-class support to our customers.

Working within our highly collaborative Commvault Infrastructure team, you will be involved in the support and configuration of backups across a range of servers & solutions. You will gain exposure to a multitude of technologies, such as the latest version of Commvault, Hyper-V, VMware-based  hypervisors, and both Windows and Linux server platforms.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about professional development, engaging with both stakeholders and customers, and is looking to become a Subject Matter Expert within a niche technical field. With access to our widely accredited Education Centre and mentorship from some of the best Commvault engineers in the backups industry, your career will accelerate at pace.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Daily routine checks for the backup platform and utilising ticketing & task systems to ensure clients queries and requests are met.
  • Assisting with capacity management and platform growth.
  • Collaborating with the team to monitor and respond to issues across our backup infrastructure.
  • Advising clients on backups issues and providing root cause analysis where needed via tickets and phone calls.
  • Troubleshooting backups errors across all levels from base infrastructure to host OS/Application.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent communicator who is happy to talk to different business stakeholders.
  • Motivation to understand and maintain Commvault solutions to the highest standard.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic technical understanding of networking (Switching & Firewalling)
  • Experience with supporting at least one of the following OS:
    • Windows (2008/2012/2016/2019)
    • Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL)
    • VMWare 6.5
    • Hyper-V
  • Nice-to-haves:
    • Prior use of Commvault or other Backup software
    • A basic understanding of File, Database, Exchange, or Virtual Machine Level backups
    • Understanding of RAID fundamentals
