The opportunity…

UKFast is looking for an Azure Technical Engineer to play a vital part in our Public Cloud journey.

Reporting to the Enterprise Windows Team Leader, you will act as a bridge between our Azure cloud team and Enterprise Windows Support team. In light of our evolving Azure offering and customer demand soaring, we have created a new role to ensure we continue providing the highest standard of customer support which UKFast is renowned for.

Our immediate need is to develop our Enterprise Support teams in Public Cloud technologies therefore you will act as an escalation point for all support queries relating to Azure. Working closely with our Technical Lead and Azure team, you will contribute to the experimentation and adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to strengthen our public cloud support.

What you will do

  • Act as a point as escalation point for UKFast team members and UKFast clients
  • Act as a communication bridge between our Azure and Windows support teams
  • Respond to break and fix support requests, your role will involve providing resolutions to clients in as little hops as possible. Using evidence whenever possible to find the root cause of issues, avoiding repeat occurrences.
  • Provide technical architecture reviews and recommendations through consultation with UKFast clients and internal Azure Solution Architect.
  • To engage within the business (and third-party providers where appropriate) regarding escalations, reviews, updates, and strategy news. Ultimately creating and building good relationships.
  • Provide seamless availability to internal teams and external clients, via all contact points (Phones, email, web portal) during core working hours.
  • Ensure efficient and effective transitions between teams and shifts.
  • Prepare the Windows support teams for new product, service releases, and the adoption of new technologies.
  • Contribute to improved processes, procedures, and documentation.

What should I bring?  

  • A proven track record of supporting production systems on Azure.   
  • Experience of basic DevOps tooling such as Git and pipelining.   
  • An understanding of CI/CD concepts
  • Experience creating and maintaining ARM templates, experience with Terraform as well would be an advantage
  • Excellent understanding of application, server, network security, and compliance requirements.   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work efficiently across internal and external organisations.   
  • Great knowledge of Cloud VM and Server technologies, including service management across a hybrid-cloud environment.   
  • Experience with Azure ARC for managing environments at scale or with Windows Admin Centre would be beneficial.
  • Experience in supporting HA workloads
  • Excellent understanding of the Azure portal and management.
  • Good troubleshooting skills using PowerShell and the Azure CLI
  • Hands-on experience with the core Azure Services, such as: Azure Backup, AAD, CDN, Lighthouse, ASR
  • Azure Certifications
  • Experience working within an MSP would be beneficial.
