UKFast showed team spirit last weekend as they set off to conquer Snowdon. Scaling the heights is a fitting way for the Manchester based Internet Service Provider to celebrate the last 6 months.
Having ended 2004 taking the big prize - Best Business ISP at the Future Publishing Awards, they have since been on top again, beating Mistral and Tiscali to the coveted ISPA UK Best Hosting Provider Award 2005.
Managing Director and Expedition Leader Lawrence Jones relishes the opportunity to thank his team. “We've worked together long and hard to shape our product so that our customers are able to be leaders in their field. To be told that we are the benchmark for people to aim at and try to beat is a real testament to our staff.”
“It's just as important for the team to see the boss sweating and struggling carrying a rucksack, as it is to see him standing with his shoulders back in a suit running the office.” Jones explains as they set off up the mountain.
The event was an opportunity to initiate new staff at the expanding company. Chris Norton, an addition to the Research and Development department likes the approach. “What a great weekend. Half way up when we hit the zig-zags it did feel like walking on the moon but getting to the top was brilliant.”
Not content with the severity of the challenge, Network Engineer David Xia on his first trip to Wales mastered the mountain in a pair of trainers, fuelled only by a slice of banana and a bite of sandwich!
UKFast enjoys a healthy start to 2005 and is looking to take on a new wave of sales staff in the coming months, so we can expect another expedition for the uninitiated before the summer is out. The client portfolio is also looking healthy with big names like Sky TV and Dollond and Aitchison joining UKFast's network.
