Olympic athlete Diane Modahl is inviting Manchester firms to experience the Olympic Games while learning valuable business lessons from the world's sporting elite.
With just two weeks until the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation's (DMSF) Road to Gold event, Modahl has announced Manchester hosting firm UKFast as main sponsor.
DMSF, along with UKFast, will be hosting an Olympic Inspiration event in August to give Manchester businesses the opportunity to meet with some of the world's sporting elite, learn about their experiences and motivational techniques and watch some of the action live from the Olympics.
The event - called Road to Gold - has been organised by DMSF in partnership with Sir Howard Bernstein of Manchester City Council and will take place on Tuesday 7 August, 6-11pm at the Hilton Hotel Manchester.
Inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games, Road to Gold is the second Olympic Inspiration event the charity has held. The events are designed to engage businesses with unique insights from the world's sporting elite into their mental resilience, self-belief, internal motivation and ability to thrive under pressure and succeed at the highest level.
Guests will enjoy a three-course gala service dinner in the company of a host of former Olympic and Paralympic stars and some of Britain's young, aspiring Olympic hopefuls for the future.
It has just been announced that joining the guests of honour will be Olympic super-heavyweight champion Audley Harrison and British actor Stephen Lord along with distinguished Olympian, Brian Whittle and road cyclist Yvonne McGregor, pursuit World Champion in 2000.
The event will also allow guests to watch the 2012 Athletics finals including the "Blue Riband" 1500 metres men's final live on the big screen in the luxurious surroundings of the Deansgate Suite at The Hilton Hotel, Manchester.
The event will help to raise vital funding to enable DMSF to extend its work and inspire and support many more disadvantaged young athletes in the years ahead. Diane said: "Road to Gold is a perfect opportunity to witness the nerves, tension and excitement of our Olympians as they strive to achieve the ultimate dream in every athletes career to fulfill their full potential.
"But it is more than the medals won or records broken. This fund raising event is also about legacy and the continuation of the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation recognising, supporting and shaping the next generation of talented young people who are eager to participate fully in society."
