UKFast ApprenticesManchester-based tech firm UKFast has again gained national recognition for its flagship apprenticeship programme, featuring in the National Apprenticeship Service's latest Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list. The award, announced at last night's National Apprenticeship Awards ceremony, is the latest in a long line of accolades for the firm's apprenticeship programme. Featuring in the top 100 previously, UKFast was also named the North West's best newcomer for 2014. UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones MBE said: "We're delighted with this news. Education is a key focus for us because we believe it is fundamental to business growth. The media talks about the problem of the 'digital skills gap' but we are more interested in working to meet the issue head on." Jones has invested heavily in education. UKFast's Manchester campus boasts a £4 million training centre alongside an outreach programme that works with over 40 schools and 35,000 students nationwide to promote digital education. UKFast's apprenticeship programme is now in its third year and has more than doubled its intake for 2016 with every single graduated apprentice so far moving into a full-time role within the company. The awards ceremony was attended by Minister for Skills Nick Boles MP. He said: "This year's Top 100 was hugely competitive with even more leading employers developing world class apprenticeship programmes that deliver the skills Britain needs. "All of the Top 100 employers know that apprenticeships and traineeships don't only provide life changing opportunities and routes into work for young people, but they also deliver real results for business. This is why we are committed to 3 million apprenticeships by 2020." With government targets raising the bar for apprenticeships in the UK, the firm is developing new networking, software developer and cyber security apprenticeships with a view to launching these programmes in 2016.
