Cloud specialist UKFast picked up two accolades at the City of Manchester Business Awards in front of the city's business elite.

The Manchester-based hosting provider was named Digital Business of the Year before wrapping up the glittering ceremony at the Hilton Hotel with the special Sponsor' Award.

UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones said: "Last night demonstrated what a brilliant city Manchester is for business.

"Being around such creative, successful and competitive businesses keeps us innovating and evolving.

"It is a real honour to win these awards, not least because part of the judging process involves a public vote."

Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council, spoke at the ceremony.

Upon collecting the Sponsors' Award, Jones thanked Sir Howard for his help in securing UKFast's recent move to new its £3.2 million premises, No1 Archway in Hulme.

The double honour continued UKFast's fine start to 2013, which is proving to be another year of award success.

Last month the £21 million turnover firm claimed the Objective HR Employee Engagement Strategy of the Year gong at the Institute of Customer Service (ICS) UK Customer Satisfaction Awards 2013.

UKFast also celebrated its highest ever ranking in The Sunday Times' 100 Best Companies to Work For, rising 20 places to 25th spot in a table dominated by London businesses.
