Hosting and colocation firm UKFast's people focus has scooped them the title of The Croner Employer of the Year at the country's most prestigious business awards, beating tough competition from the likes of FedEx, LV, Something Big, RHP and Baringa Partners.
More than 1,000 business leaders, from start-ups, social enterprises and SMEs to mid-market, large family and FTSE listed firms, came together to celebrate the best of British businesses at the National Business Awards ceremony earlier this month at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.
The award for The Croner Employer of the Year was judged by a panel of highly inspirational professionals, including Andrew Hague, managing director of Croner, Simon Perryman, director of employment engagements at the UK Commission, and Nita Clarke, co-founder of Engage for Success.
Judges praised UKFast's focus on employee empowerment and for truly understanding "every dimension of great employees".
Lawrence Jones, CEO of UKFast said: "The most important thing I can do is invest in the people of this company; it is vital to create a workforce that reflects the core values we possess as a business, and to do that I'm committed to making sure they're having fun, are working in a great environment and, most importantly, are growing as people.
"I believe that people are the greatest force behind a strong business - without a fantastic team behind me, UKFast would not be where it is today."
UKFast recently invested more than £5million in a new campus on the edge of Manchester, which is undergoing a huge redevelopment. The finished project will include a crèche, gym and kennels as well as slides, an auditorium and chill out zones with pool tables and games consoles.
The firm was shortlisted for four awards at the ceremony this year, including Employer of the Year, The Blackberry Business Enabler of the Year, The Smith and William Entrepreneur of the Year and The Customer Focus awards.
So far this year UKFast has scooped several awards including ranking as the 5th Best Workplace in the UK (medium category), the Data Centre Solutions award for Service Provider of the Year and the Institute of Customer Service Employee Engagement Award.
The National Business Awards are the UK's premier cross- industry accolades for enterprise excellence. The awards ceremony creates an opportunity for companies to demonstrate how and why they are an outstanding British business.
