Sporting greats set to Inspire MCR

One of the North West’s most popular business events, Inspire MCR, is returning next month, celebrating entrepreneurial spirit and lifting the lid on business lessons to be learned on the sports field.
The free event, held on 23rd November at UKFast Campus, offers an all-star line-up, featuring rugby legend Mark Cueto MBE, international squash champion Laura Massaro and UKFast’s sports-obsessed CEO, Lawrence Jones MBE.
The speakers are set to share their knowledge about winning in sport and in business, and the transferable lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers.
Jones said: “Ultimately, the skills needed to succeed in business are almost identical to those needed to reach the very top in sport. Sport teaches us as businesspeople that falling at the first hurdle shouldn’t stop you. If you can’t score a try the first time, you don’t leave the field and give up; you push harder and keep going until you score.
“At UKFast we have an incredible culture of sport and fitness and it’s helped us to achieve amazing results. We want to pass on our experiences and inspire others, so it’s fitting that we have two inspirational athletes to help us do just that.”
World squash champion Laura Massaro will share her story of overcoming the limiting belief that she could not beat the former World Champion.
She said: “I'm excited to be involved with Inspire MCR and hoping that sharing some of my experiences in overcoming mental barriers and reaching the top of the sporting world can inspire others to aim for the top in their chosen fields.”
Mark Cueto retired from professional rugby in 2015 and is now commercial director at Aviva Premiership club Sale Sharks. Speaking at the event, he’ll reveal the key traits he has carried with him from the pitch to the boardroom.
Next month’s event is the fourth in the Inspire MCR series. Hosted by award-winning journalist Chris Maguire, who has entertained guests at business events and award ceremonies of all sizes, Inspire MCR is set to be another full-house at UKFast’s 250-seater auditorium.
Jones said: “The feedback we received from previous Inspire events was amazingly positive – we have heard quite a few stories of budding entrepreneurs who picked up advice at the event, leading them to make complete changes within their businesses. We have been working hard in the meantime to create an even more incredible experience for those visiting UKFast Campus.
“There are so many growing businesses in the UK right now that are looking to collaborate and learn from each other and Inspire is proving to be the perfect platform.”
Inspire Manchester takes place from 5.30pm to 8pm on 23rd November at UKFast’s Birley Field Campus. Free registration is open at https://www.ukfast.co.uk/inspire-mcr.html
