Entrepreneur Calls for Northern Firms to Step Up

Entrepreneur Lawrence Jones has called for more northern firms to raise the bar as UKFast is named fifth in the London-dominated Great Place to Work, Best Workplaces 'medium' list 2013 - its highest ever ranking in the list.
UKFast is one of just three northern firms in the list of the 30 best medium-sized workplaces.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones said: "We have been to a number of national award ceremonies so far this year and, time and again, we are seeing London and Southern firms hogging the limelight. This is reflected once more in this year's Great Workplace list.
"The rest of the country is buzzing with innovative and exceptional companies, but we are not seeing this reflected in the winners of these big national awards. It's time for the North to start the Industrious Revolution and prove its salt against the Big Smoke."
UKFast beat stiff competition from some of the country's biggest names including the UK offices of eBay and Coca-Cola, and other technology firms Peer1 and NetApp.
Jones continued: "We are delighted to see our people focus rewarded with a place in this list once again and it is a real nod to the whole team and the wonderful working atmosphere that they create."
UKFast will find out where it has placed in the European Great Workplaces list later this month.
