Digital entrepreneur Lawrence Jones today confirms that he is to offer free eCloud hosting worth £25,000 to the 23 finalists of Tech North's Northern Stars competition.
The companies in attendance at the Northern Stars final at UKFast Campus in Manchester were the victors from a number of regional pitching contests. They represent the best in tech startups from across the North of England. The finalists include a variety of startups from sectors spanning food and drink, ecommerce, music, charity, recruitment and data analytics.
Jones said: "Seeing these innovative and passionate startups here at UKFast is proof, if it were needed, that the tech ecosystem in the North is thriving.
"I've been in the finalists' position as a fledgling business and believe that it's the responsibility of entrepreneurs to support them in their journey. Offering them free access to our eCloud hosting infrastructure puts an enterprise-grade cloud-computing resource at their fingertips and removes any headaches over data regulation with every element guaranteed to remain on British soil. I hope it helps them in the next steps of their journey."
UKFast provides cloud hosting and infrastructure to a wide range of businesses and public sector organisations through its full service eCloud portfolio.
Jones continued: "We've seen cloud delivering tangible benefits to businesses in the past few years and if we combine the amazing passion and innovation that these startups have with the tools to deliver rapid and reliable services online, they have an incredible chance of succeeding. I wish them all the very best.
"Our eCloud comes in three flavours to suit different types of business at different stages in their growth. UKFast's eCloud comes in Public, Hybrid and Private versions and we are always happy to sit down and discuss which type of cloud best suits a company's business goals."
Jones's firm has long supported the tech community in Manchester and partners Tech City UK and Tech North, most recently as sponsor of the Northern Stars competition.
Head of Tech North, Claire Braithwaite said: "What Lawrence has built at UKFast is very special. The environment there is all about people and networks and this offer is another great example of that emphasis on collaboration. It embodies what UKFast and Tech North are all about."
eCloud represents a £20 million infrastructure investment by the 16-year-old Manchester-based business.
