Are you missing out on a £163 billion industry?
Article date: Fri, 28 Aug 2009 11:21 GMTToo many UK businesses are failing to take advantage of the booming online commerce sector, UKFast has warned. Worth nearing £200 billion, it is "crazy" to miss out on this rapidly growing sector while most others are suffering from the recession. According to official government statistics released in November 2008, internet sales by UK businesses had risen by 30.2% to £163 billion and growth in this industry from the start of the millennium is in the region of 5,000%. So clearly many UK businesses are benefitting from a healthy online market place. In fact, according to UKFast figures the proportion of businesses selling online increased to 15% in 2009. However, this still means that a massive 85% of UK businesses are not selling online and therefore are not involved in the most dynamic market place in UK commerce. "I always maintain that every business should have a website. They are a shop window to an ever growing customer group that no company can afford to miss out on," comments UKFast MD Lawrence Jones. "The industry has grown a staggering 5,000% over the last decade and is now worth over £150 billion annually. Quite simply it is crazy to be missing out."
