The harshest adversary was the weather as both the Sharks and the Airwaves-Ducati team emerged victorious in the windswept North this weekend. At Edgeley Park on Saturday, Sale faced all seasons of the year within the space of eighty minutes, but it was a seasoned campaigner - captain Jason Robinson, playing his 500th game of professional rugby - whose dropped goal sealed Sale Sharks' second half fight back to guarantee a place in the Guinness Premiership semi finals and next season's Heineken Cup. Charlie Hodgson was prominent throughout having to shrug off a second half injury to stay on the pitch. His four successful penalty kicks kept the Sharks in touch with a strong Gloucester team. Richard Wigglesworth deputised for Charlie to bring the scores level in the last 20, before Jason Robinson's 74th minute kick sealed the victory 18-15. Across the Peaks in Derbyshire, the Airwaves-Ducati team faced blistering rains on Sunday, but remained focussed to deliver up the most convincing team performance of the day. A first and a third in Race 1 followed by a second and a third in Race 2 gave the team four out of the six Donington Park podiums. Team manager Colin Wright was quick to praise the team effort saying, “It was a challenging weekend but the lads worked very hard, in return we came away with 4 podiums, another lap record and Ducati are now leading the manufacturers Championship by 12 points. Not a bad day at the office! The Rugby Premiership draws to an end as the Superbike's season gets under way and Lawrence Jones is thrilled that both UKFast's sponsorships are focussed for success. “This weekend saw tremendous team spirit from the Sharks and Airwaves-Ducati. Discipline under pressure brought ruthless efficiency on track and field and it's fantastic to find them both at the top of their league tables.”
