Microsoft Releases Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools Update
Microsoft has rolled out the Windows Phone Developer Tools Update, which allows developers to build apps that support updated assemblies set to ship in the upcoming Windows Phone OS update.
Writing on the Windows Team blog, Microsoft's Brandon Watson said that, developers will be able to add the cut-and-paste feature to apps, as well as make use of increased app performance and other new capabilities set to come with the next update.
"All apps which are in Windows Phone Marketplace will continue to work on any phone that gets updated to the new version of the OS. Any app built using this new version of the tools will also work on phones that have not been updated to the new OS," he explained.
According to the company, the new developer tools will come updated reference assemblies, a number of bug fixes and a new version of the Windows Phone OS emulator image.
Microsoft also revealed that its Windows Phone Developers Tools had been downloaded over one million times since its launch less than a year ago.
