Since launching the Kinect console on the 4th November, Microsoft has sold more than 10 million devices making it the fastest-selling consumer electronics device on record, according to Guinness World Records.
The figures for the Kinect beat those of Apple's iPhone and iPad when they launched. The latter acheived 1 million sales in the first month with half of those sold in the first week after launch.
On the back of the success of the Kinect, Microsoft have been able to drive games sales and worldwide more than 10 million games have been sold to date.
The editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition, Gaz Davies, said "We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector".
Between 4th November 2010 and 3rd January, Microsoft sold eight million devices at an average rate of 133,333 a day.
