Twentieth Century Fox has created a user generated content Wiki site for the launch of the 'Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer', which allows fans to add and edit content as if it was a Wikipedia entry.
The site was built by the Picture Production Company using DokuWiki, a Wikipedia service that allows visitors to add, remove, edit and change content, typically without the need for registration.
It also allows users to share information about the Silver Surfer in multiple languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.
The site contains a lengthy background on the Marvel Comics character, information on the cast and contributors of the movie, as well as suggested reading and external links.
'Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer' is the second Fantastic Four movie and again stars British actor Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards and Jessica Alba as Sue Storm.
Bettina Sherick, vice-president of digital marketing at Fox International Theatrical, said: "Wikis are a very popular way to share information and fans of this franchise are a very passionate group.
"We are creating one destination for those fast and true fans to share their knowledge and love for the Silver Surfer with a whole new audience who will meet the cosmic power for the first time this summer in cinemas."
