SMEs need web presence
Small and medium-sized businesses based in the UK need to establish a web presence and make use of online Marketing "because that's how people look for their services these days".
That is according to smallbusiness.co.uk, which has asserted that it is vital that small firms have a web presence because the majority of consumers search for products via the web.
Adam Wayland, the website's editor, noted that broadband services are extremely useful for providing ways for firms to not " to worry about the overheads of an office or renting space".
He said: "It's important for small businesses to have a web presence because that's how people look for their services these days. They go on to a search engine and they look for a plumber or an electrician, that's how they find their services.
"Whether the small business owners will cotton on to the benefits of it is another matter, so it's about getting the message out there and making it as easy as possible for people with very little technical knowledge to get something up and running."
According to UK Online, two thirds of small businesses with between one and ten employees are still operating without an internet connection, email or a website.
