The eBay-owned online payment provider, PayPal, is expanding its offering with a pre-pay debit card, in partnership with Visa and Royal Bank of Scotland. The PayPal Top Up card, which costs £4.95 to activate, will be accepted at high-street stores and e-commerce sites displaying the Visa symbol.
PayPal says it is targeting consumers who want tighter control over their spending. Users can top up the card online, as well as at Post Office branches and PayPoint retail outlets. It has set up a microsite to advertise the offer.
The brand launched its PayPal Credit Card in 2006.
Earlier this year, PayPal unveiled a promotion offering consumers the chance to win £1000 every day. The campaign was handled by TMW.
