Tellme, which was recently acquired by Microsoft, has announced new mobile local search features, reports InformationWeek.
Tellme's new software will let users choose how they want to run their search - by voice or by text. Users will have the choice of dialing an 800 number, sending a short text request or speaking their information request into their mobile phones. While a name for the product hasn't been found just yet, it's operating under the name Tellme by Mobile.
The announcement comes shortly after Google took the wraps off its free 411 service. Both Google's and Tellme's products compete against and could take significant marketshare away from paid information services.
