Marketers plan to up internet ad spend on social media
Most internet marketers are bullish about spending on social media sites, according to a new study by Prospero Technologies.
The applications provider looked at more than 50 businesses and organisations and found that almost a third (31 per cent) are planning to significantly up their spending on social media sites next year.
As well as this, 58 per cent said they intended to increase their spending by some level, with only ten per cent saying they would not change anything. No respondents at all were planning to decrease their spending in this area.
The statistics clearly illustrates the growing importance of sites such as Facebook and MySpace, and the potential for Internet Marketing that these websites provide.
Some 59 per cent believed that social media performance in 2007 had met their Marketing objectives, or exceeded them.
Meanwhile, MySpace has said it will give outside developers further access to its service in order to compete more effectively with Facebook.
