Business-focused social networking site LinkedIn has launched a share button, which gives publishers a way to spread their content on LinkedIn and enables users to easily share content with their LinkedIn network.
Publishers are given the option of the share button in three flavors : vertical with a share counter, a smaller, horizontal button with the counter, or a horizontal button with no counter.
Adding the button to a site or blog is as easy as choosing one of those options and pasting a couple of lines of code, available at LinkedIn's Publishers page.
Back in April, LinkedIn launched several new sharing options, making it easier for users to attach links to status updates, with the ability to re-share links as well as edit and delete posts.
With the addition of the share button, LinkedIn is catching up with Facebook when it comes to content sharing options.
However, the competition is strong; many publishers already employ Facebook, Digg, Twitter, StumbleUpon and other sharing buttons.
LinkedIn Senior product manager, Liz Reaves Walker explained, "We know there are a lot of options for sharing content today, whether it's on Twitter or Facebook. And, now with our new LinkedIn's share button, we'd like to offer readers an effective way to share relevant professional content - news, thought pieces, white papers, or presentations on slideshare - with their business network on LinkedIn."
