Internet integral to marketing strategies The internet and search engine optimisation can be used alongside other mediums to form formidable Marketing strategies, experts have claimed.

According to the Institute of Direct Marketing, a combination of methods, with Internet Marketing at the heart, could lead a number of companies to greatly increase their exposure and boost their profits.

James Matthewson, a tutor for the company, revealed that while the internet is useful on its own, other mediums can be used in conjuction to the web to drive potential consumers online.

"My view is that channels should be used in a complementary way. Email and Direct Mail have been proven. to be very effective when used together," he said.

"Local radio campaigns can drive people to search on Google, so whilst running adverts on the radio, [companies] should also have adverts on search engines," he added.

Meanwhile, according to a survey compiled by International Communications Research, almost two in ten respondents were happy to receive online marketing information via email.
