Google purchases video mashup firm for YouTube

Google has bought video editing tool Omnisio for an undisclosed sum.

The company's editing features will now be incorporated into YouTube, which was bought by Google in 2006.

Omnisio allows users to extract selected clips from videos from various sources, such as YouTube, and string them together for use in presentations. Users can also add comments within the video.

The company launched publicly in March, backed by venture capital firm Y Combinator, and was founded by three Australians, Ryan Junee, Julian Frumar and Simon Ratner.
