An investment advice firm has ranked Amazon.com the "financially healthiest" retailer in the US for the second year running.
According to the report from Consensus Advisors, the internet giant beat 160 retailers and this reflects the importance of a strong online presence.
Michael O'Hara, CEO of Consensus Advisors stated, "Amazon.com has exploited the increasing availability of broadband internet and mobile technology to build a fast growing and highly efficient retailing super-power."
The survey which was conducted by Consensus Advisors uses a number of measurements to calculate retail health, including asset utilisation, pricing power, and of course the strength of a company's balance sheet.
Companies Aeropostale and Urban Outfitters ranked on numbers two and three on the list.
O'Hara said that all of the companies in the top 10 of the list had, "used the exclusivity of their increasingly powerful, vertically-integrated brands to navigate the macro-economic trauma of the last 18 months by taking market share from their competitors, maintaining margins and inventory turns and avoiding debt".
