Adobe Systems and Yahoo! launched today an opt-in service that allows online publishers to embed time sensitive, contextual ads next to Adobe PDFs (Portable Document Format) documents.
The service would enable readers to access more free content enhanced with ads that match their interests.
Publishers can generate revenue by including contextual ads next to Adobe PDF content, with Yahoo! providing access to its extensive network of advertisers to match a broad range of subject matter.
For advertisers, the service extends reach by delivering advertising across a new channel of content, while also providing the ability to track advertising performance, just as they can ads placed on Web sites.
The new service, Ads for Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo!, is currently a beta program. Initially, the service will only available to US-based publishers who produce English content. The service is free to publishers.
"As advertisers look to touch new audiences, readers can look forward to some exciting Adobe PDF content coming their way," said Rob Tarkoff, senior vice president, Corporate Development at Adobe.
