Though Beacon's plans were foiled, a company callled Ads-Click has launched a new Facebook app that invites members to embed ads into their profiles, and will give them an 80 percent cut when a friend clicks on them.
MicroSocialAds inserts targeted, contextual texts from a pool of 200,000 advertisers, according to TechCrunch. Ads are designed to be unobtrusive, appearing as a line of text no more than 35 characters long.
Micro acts like any other app, but when users add it, the text ads start appearing on their Facebook page and in the news feed.
In addition to Facebook, MicroSocialAds work with MSN Messenger, and soon, Yahoo IM, Skype, and OpenSocial.
