When it comes to developing a business website, good quality content is just as important as impressive design, it has been suggested.
According to British web design company Fortune Cookie, businesses do not place enough emphasis on the content and copy available on their sites.
The company's director, Justin Cooke, recommends that businesses focus on the usability of their websites, ensuring that the copy is searchable, written in plain language and "on-brand".
"A lot of businesses have a miss-match between the way they talk to a customer offline and online," he explains.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics show that 61 per cent of British households have access to the internet, with that figure increasing year on year.
According to a report by Igoo.co.uk, the number of consumers making online purchases increased by 33.4 per cent over the last year.
