Internet auction site eBay was found to be the most popular company in the US pay per click search term sector this week by Hitwise. The terms 'ebay' and 'ebay.com' took up first and second place in August's top five list, ahead of 'home depot', and 'map quest'.
Microsoft unveiled new information relating to its Powerset search projects, with spokespeople Dr Scott Prevost and Dr Hugh Williams writing on the Live Search blog that Live Search Answers is to be expanded as part of the plans.
Google dominated the comScore rankings for the most visited websites during the last month, receiving 3.2 million more visitors from the US than nearest rival Yahoo!. Microsoft was third, a further 18 million unique hits behind.
The European competition commission revealed that it will be examining the recently announced Internet Advertising deal between Google and Yahoo!, while more statistics from comScore showed approximately 75 per cent of UK internet users watched online videos in June.
