Red Hat has released an update for its JBoss Enterprise Business Rules Management System (BRMS.)
The company said that the 5.1 release of the BRMS system will allow the JBoss Enterprise Middleware platform to better manage and change rules which can determine behaviour in enterprise applications.
"Business rules systems are critical for businesses to retain their competitive edge by making active decisions regarding business events as they occur," explained Red Hat middleware vice president Craig Muzilla.
"The functionality of this architecture allows a business to quickly change the underlying rules that govern such features as real-time insurance quotes, automatic discounts, linked frequent buyer programs and medical health records safeguards."
Among the features being added will be new productivity tools designed to make the system easier too use as well as implementation of the JBoss Open Choice strategy.
The 5.1 update will offer a technology preview of complex events processing capabilities for the platform.
The package will also feature reporting tools which will allow both developers and auditors to view and manage business rules being used within an application.
