Red Hat has unveiled a suite of products and services aimed at supporting cloud infrastructure, based on open source software.
The Red Hat Cloud Foundation is a family of products and services for planning, building and managing infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service private and public clouds. Each product includes software, implementation cookbooks and reference architectures, professional services and training classes.
The Cloud Foundation is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Network Satellite, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, JBoss Enterprise Middleware and Red Hat Enterprise MRG Grid.
"Just as we made Linux a safe place to run mission-critical applications with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, we are focused on making the cloud a safe place for enterprise applications," said Scott Crenshaw, vice-president and general manager of the cloud business unit at Red Hat.
The company has also unveiled its cloud platform based on JBoss Java middleware.
Red Hat recently announced it was funding a cloud research centre in Newcastle.
