McAfee has unveiled a new enterprise package designed to help firms reduce the risk of data loss.
The company said that the new McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tool would help businesses secure sensitive data both within the system and on removable storage.
As with most of McAfee's enterprise offerings, the DLP tool will be designed to run through the ePolicy Orchestrator Platform and will be designed with ease of use and efficiency as primary concerns.
"Due to limitations inherent in legacy DLP solutions, organisations have had to take a brute force approach to protecting data," said Gerhard Watzinger, executive vice president and general manager of McAfee's data protection business.
"These approaches are like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut and are usually used because of the high cost and complexity with deployment of traditional DLP. "
The company said that the new offering will be able to be fully installed and set up over a nine day period. In addition, the DLP system will be designed to run alongside other security tools through the ePolicy Orchestrator in addition to integration with Adobe and Oracle access rights management tools.
McAfee is also updating the analytics components of the tool, hoping that the offering will be able to better anticipate potential vulnerabilities and alert administrators.
The company has not yet given a release date for the new tool.
