YouTube "Retires" RealTime Search Prototype

YouTube has today announced that its new RealTime prototype tool bar will no longer be available on the site.

The RealTime tool was in the process of being tested by an invite only audience and showed recent activities, comments etc in a social-media style.

However a spokeswoman for the company on Monday revealed in the YouTube help forum that this tool would not be rolled out to the masses. "We've seen some of you wondering what occurred to the Realtime Toolbar," she stated, "However, the Realtime Toolbar was recently retired and is no longer an available feature on YouTube,"

She went on to say "We were excited to release and experiment with Realtime and it has inspired us for new features on YouTube in the future. We look forward to introducing many new features in the coming months and are sharing them with you all."

It is not yet clear however what these new features will be.
