Yahoo has released its first transparency report, revealing the number of government requests for user data.
The firm said a total of 1,709 disclosure requests were received in the UK in the first six months of 2012, but 27% were rejected. In America, Yahoo received 12,444 requests.
A Yahoo spokesperson said "employees regularly push back against improper requests for user data".
The report will be updated every six months, detailing requests for users' data by 17 countries.
The release of the report comes after pressure on technology firms by privacy groups to publicise details of their collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
