Yahoo's Chief operating officer Henrique de Castro, has unexpectedly departed the company, just over a year after he was hired to turn its advertising business around.
No reason was given for his departure, which is a huge knock-back to the firm's efforts to revive dwindling sales and internet traffic.
The role of Mr Castro whilst working for Yahoo was to act as the top sales executive and to build relationships with key advertising clients.
The company has however failed to increase advertising revenue for its website and mobile applications.
It has been reported Henrique de Castro may receive a multi-million dollar severance package.
