Today's research from ForeSee Results has revealed that a record number of consumers are using mobile phones to access retail websites.
The study shows that 32 per cent have used their mobile phone to view store sites, with 32 per cent intending to continue to use their mobile phones to access retail websites.
8 per cent of web shoppers said they have made purchases using their phones over the festive period, compared to just 2 per cent during the same period last year.
Vice-president of retail strategy at ForeSee Result Kevin Ertell, says that retailers not developing their own mobile platforms are risking losing a significant market share to competitors. Ertell added, "They cannot afford to ignore or even neglect the mobile experience and assume it won't hurt their traditional online or in-store business."
CEO of ForeSee Results, Larry Freed said consumer expectations are being set by the best websites and the best mobile experiences. "Consumers aren't going to have a lot of patience for excuses about the challenges that mobile shopping presents when it comes to design and usability," he warned.
