Twitter has warned news organisations to improve their security following a number of hacks.
The Syrian Electronic Army's attack on The Guardian came hot on the heels of the Associated Press being targeted.
Twitter bosses contacted news organisations asking them to review their internal plans for dealing with social media.
Advice was offered, including passwords comprising random letters and numbers forming more than 20 characters.
An email from Twitter recommended using only one computer for use of the social media site.
It read: "This helps keep your Twitter password from being spread around.
"Don't use this computer to read email or surf the web, to reduce the chances of malware infection."
