The social networking service has reported a loss of $145m during the second quarter from March to June.
The loss is more than triple the loss the company reported during the same period a year ago.
However, Twitter reported its user growth increased by 24% compared to results last year.
Twitter said it had 271 million monthly users - trampling on investor fears that the service is not growing fast enough.
Noting Twitter's strong user figures during the World Cup, Chief executive Dick Costolo said: "Our strong financial and operating results for the second quarter show the continued momentum of our business."
Twitter added, that more than 78% of its clients access the service on their mobile devices.
