Trend Micro has agreed to acquire encryption vendor Mobile Armor as part of an effort to improve its data security operations. The company plans to implement Mobile Armor products alongside its own cloud and email encryption offerings.
Trend Micro recently moved into the cloud security space with the launch of its SecureCloud platform.
"This acquisition will expand our endpoint security market reach, and will provide our customers with proven technology for encrypting data on laptops, tablet PCs and smartphones," said Trend Micro chief executive Eva Chen.
"Mobile Armor's solutions further our vision of protecting digital information wherever it resides, and complements our recent announcement of Trend Micro SecureCloud for securing and controlling data in the cloud."
The deal is expected to close by the end of the year. Terms are not being disclosed.
The merger comes as much of the enterprise security market is consolidating through mergers and acquisitions.
Symantec made headlines earlier this year when it acquired security assets from VeriSign. Later in the year, Intel shook the technology world when it revealed a $7.8bn deal to purchase security giant McAfee.
