UK shoppers turned out in force to hit the sales on Boxing Day - on laptops, PCs and tablets.
This Boxing Day was the biggest ever for online shopping in the UK according to Experian figures.
According to Experian Hitwise's analysis, consumers paid some 96million visits to UK e-tail sites on December 26 2011, spending a collective 13million hours online, 19.5% more than on the same day last year.
Multichannel brands to the lion's share of the traffic with almost twice as many visits made to multichannel companies than online only retailers.
Unsurprisingly gadgets were at the top of the list for the most searched for products on Boxing Day and even less surprisingly 2011's tech smash hits the Kindle and iPad 2 led the way.
Apple had three products within the top 10 Boxing Day list including the iPad 2, iPod Touch and iPhone 4S and iPad 2 cases were the eighth most searched for item on Boxing Day.
The Experian report comes as web analytics firm IBM Coremetrics reported that online shopping on Christmas Day itself rose by 16% compared to 2010. Apple's iPad was the most widely-used mobile device for Christmas Day shopping, hosting 7% of all web transactions.Return to internet news headlines
