The first website in the UK to provide live highways maintenance information to the public has been released in Buckinghamshire.
Transport for Buckinghamshire has developed the tool called 'The Online Service Information Centre' from a partnership between Buckinghamshire County Council and a highway infrastructure services provider.
The website utilises vehicle tracking software available from Masternaut and provides real-time reporting on current highway issues along with planned and emergency roadworks including work by gritters and grass-cutters.
Live information is captured and transmitted using the system and it is hoped that the scheme will save a lot of time for commuters around the area and perhaps be rolled out to other districts in the near future.
