The late Aaron Swartz has been posthumously inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame.
Mr Swartz took his own life at the turn of the year whilst fighting charges he had hacked an archive of academic papers.
He helped to create the RSS standard and co-founded social news site Reddit.
Mr Swartz also campaigned for internet freedom. A spokesperson for his family said: "We are humbled and honoured by the award."
