It is suspected that Finnish phone giant Nokia could be releasing a touch-screen tablet to rival the iPad.
Ashok Kumar of Rodman Renshaw, has today stated that Nokia are currently working with their design and manufacturing partners on a new product that would be less like their traditional mobile phones and more like the Apple iPad.
The analyst has stated that the tablet could be for sale from as early as the Autumn.
"Nokia hasn't fielded any breakaway products in years," says Kumar, "This is a new window, and Nokia had better be at the starting gate if and when the product category takes off."
Nokia has released many portable internet devices already. In the last five years they have released the 770 Internet Tablet, the N800, N810, N900, and of course the Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook.
It is still unknown whether Nokia's next release shall fall in line with the type of device they have released before, or whether it will be more similar to the iPad and HP Slate although most are suspecting the latter.
Analysts are predicting that more information shall be revealed on Tuesday (13.04.10).
