After months of speculation, Ford CEO Alan Mulally made public his decision to stay put and not to join Microsoft, despite being a front runner to replace current chief Steve Ballmer.
The highly - coveted executive said that he would stay with Ford at least through to the end of 2014.
It is still unknown who will be the replacement for Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, and Microsoft are not giving anything away.
A spokesperson's official response for Microsoft was: "Out of respect for the process and the potential candidates, we don't comment on individual names."
Previous rumours have mentioned Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, Microsoft Executive VP Tony Bates, and Microsoft cloud and enterprise Chief Satya Nadella as the possible candidates.
