In order to maintain peace of mind, most UK users have more than one backup product in use.
The findings come from a survey conducted by Manchester-based backup supplier Macrium which questioned more than 500 backup product users.
The survey found that 49% of those surveyed have only one backup product in use, 33% have two backup products in use and 16% have more than three in place.
The survey asked respondents which backup methods were in use, finding the most common being to carry out full and incremental backups.
The main reasons for having more than one backup product in place included security, using different backups for different services and ensuring redundancy.
The results show that customers usually have a number of data protection methods in operation which are likely to include traditional backup products such as those from big players such as Symantec, EMC, HP, IBM and TSM that deal with physical and virtual backups.
According to respondents, the biggest issue with backup was the time it takes, as well as the uncertainty over whether the backup would be successful.
