Half a Billion Wearables Will Be in Use by 2019
According to research there will be around half a billion wearable devices in use by 2019, which is up from just 109m last year.
According to Cisco, within the UK alone there looks to be around 16.4 million wearables by 2019, up from 2.8 million last year.
The company predicts that each of these devices will be creating 569 megabytes of data per month by 2019, which is up from 119MB last year.
Global mobile data traffic will reach an annual run rate of 292 exabytes per year, up from 30 exabytes in 2014 - which is the equivalent of 65 trillion Instagram photos.
Newer 4G accounts look set to account for 88.2 per cent of total mobile data traffic by 2019, compared to just 42.2 per cent at the end of 2014.
There will also be a billion more mobile users by 2019, up to 5.2 billion from 4.3 billion in 2014.
In 2014 nearly 59% of the world's population were mobile users, but by 2019 more than 69 per cent will be.
