Technology giants Google are set to go head-to-head in the auto industry with rival, Apple.
Google is in talks with German vehicle manufacturer Audi, about building in-car entertainment and audio systems, based on its android software platform.
The move from Google could enable drivers to use the software to access music, navigation, apps and services similar to those offered on Android smartphones.
The plans are set to be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and come after Apple announced its "IOS in car" initiative in June; which aims to give drivers and passengers direct access to the functionalities of IOS devices while in the car.
