Four Million UK Homes Opt Against Internet
Research by the Office of National Statistics shows that four million UK homes are still not connected to the internet.
The data said that 59% of those without connection stated that they did not need to be online.
A further 20% informed researchers that they lacked the necessary computer skills, while 10% could not afford it.
Three-quarters of the nation's adults access the internet every day, with the most active group falling into the 25-34 bracket.
The ONS said: "The internet has changed the way people go about their daily lives.
"This release highlights that activities previously carried out on the high street are now increasingly being carried out online."
