Dell shareholders have approved a £15.6billion buyout offer by Michael Dell and Silver Lake Partners, according to a preliminary count.
It will end Dell's 25-year spell as a public company.
Although Mr Dell had met resistance from investors regarding the acquisition price, conflicts appear to have been resolved in the subsequent three days.
He said: "I am pleased with this outcome.
"As a private enterprise, with a strong private-equity partner, we will serve our customers with a single-minded purpose and drive the innovations that will help them achieve their goals."
